Mike Baggetta - abstract oil paintings
First Friday Artist Reception: June 6, 6-8pm

Oswego Lake Gallery is excited to present "Paradigm Shift" a new collection of paintings by Mike Baggetta including the premiere viewing of his elegant and masterfully created monotype series. Known for his vibrant expressionistic abstract oil paintings, Mike took a creative leap into making monotypes, one-of-a-kind originals, utilizing the printmaking process of pulling an impression that is drawn or painted on a plexiglass or metal plate through a press. His monotypes capture movements of flight, suspension and stillness. His explorations inspired a whole new direction for his oil paintings including painting on stell and aluminum, painting abstract fiery dark images reminiscent of industrial, architectural landscapes; a stark contrast to the simplicity and quiet elegance of framed paper monotypes.

His work reflects an evolution from his years of drawing and painting, formal art training, and his professional design background. "I'm fascinated with the physicality of paint and the juxtaposition of texture and color to create compositions that are both dynamic and highly poetic," Baggetta explains. Each of his pieces begin as a field of textured color and is subsequently layered with additional exuberant color and texture resulting in paintings that imply a sense of architecture and motion.

Mike Baggetta graduated with honors from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena and worked for years as a graphic designer and art director in the film industry. He and his artist wife, Marla Baggetta, reside in West Linn, Oregon. Mike's award winning work is shown and collected in the Northwest and nationally.

Beth Sautter - acrylic paintings
Frist Friday Artist Reception: May 2, 6-8pm

Oswego Lake Gallery presents new paintings by Beth Sautter, a contemporary realist, painting common objects placed in uncommon situations such as hummingbirds perched on a box of dark chocolates, encouraging the viewers to expand their sense of what is possible. As an artist, she finds inspiration and beauty in something as common as a stack of juicy tiny hamburgers, exquisitely painted. Sautter displays tremendous technical proficiency using a glazing method to give her acrylic work the illusion of luminosity and depth on the par with the oil paintings of the masters.

The current collection showcases Sautter's range of paintings including small humorous still lifes such as a dinosaur Tea Party, to the spacious delicate Zen quality in "Bird on Quince" and finally an explosion of impressionist delight in "Wildflowers".

Beth's beautifully detailed still life paintings, such as dinosaurs having a Tea Party possibly surface from subconscious delightful childhood day dreams, or purely an extraordianary imagination that she successfully used in her work as Art Director for Universal Studios on feature films. Sautter holds a BFA in art from the University of Texas, and after many years in Los Angeles, moved to Lake Oswego where she is flourishing in the clean air and serene surroundings. Sautter's work is highly collected by locals and she is winning accolades across the United States for her realistic paintings.

Shannon Willis - paintings
Jim Willis - sculpture
First Friday Artist Reception: April 4, 6-8pm

Oswego Lake Gallery is exhibiting abstract paintings by Shannon Willis and sculptures by her father, Jim Willis. Shannon's work embodies a bold strength built within layers and deep ridges of textured color, creating images reminiscent of ancient or fantastical geological landscapes. She is fascinated with the inevitable change that occurs with the passage of time, be it in nature or time-worn buildings. Her works often reflect images of rock formations, or landscapes that pull the viewer's memory and imagination into play.

A collection of sculptures by Jim Willis is also on display. Jim's elegant forms are created in stone, fine hardwood and with accents of copper. He is a master wood sculptor transforming wood and stone from organic forms into one-of-a-kind unique and imaginative forms.

It is an exceptional showcase of a father's and a daughter's artistic creations.

Marla Baggetta - pastels and oil paintings
First Friday Artist Reception: February 1, 6-8pm

Oswego Lake Gallery is featuring work by local favorite, Marla Baggetta. Her new collection includes vibrant, large abstracted landscapes in oil and a selection of small and larger pastels in varied hues. Her painting "Turning to Your" pushes her abstraction the furthest, capturing a moment in time, a glowing sky in warm browns, apricot and rose tones over a darkened land. Her pastels depict a new series of dry hills, warm skies, a wild vibrant autumn forest along with her familiar trees and water compositions.

Marla Baggetta has established herself as one of the West's leading representational painters with her compelling and sophisticated imagery. Her compositions are unique and overcome the cliches of the genre. Color, composition and passages of light are orchestrated to produce a cohesive whole. The results are fine jewel-like pieces that allude her illustrative background. Baggetta is known locally for her pastels of Oregon's rural landscapes, including the Stafford area and her work is a feature of many private and civic collections nationwide.

Marla Baggetta has had a distinguished career as a commercial illustrator before turning to landscape painting, working for clients such as Walt Disney, Nissan Motors, and Houghton Mifflin Publishing. She has received numerous awards for her work, Presidents Award, Norhtwest Pastel Society 2004, and is a signature member of the Pastel Society of Oregon and America. "Embracing The Current"
Anna Jaap- contemporary acrylic paintings
Heather Bellamy-ceramic figurative sculptures
Oswego Lake Gallery presents two rising artists: Anna Jaap of Nashville, Tennessee and Heather Bellamy of Portland, Oregon. Jaap's collection of acrylic paintings, " Embracing the Current," presents the viewer a soft river of abstracted natural images, branches and leaves charged and vibrating, quietly drifting downstream. "Do You Believe That You Are Lucky" is filled with brilliant colors, a floral, a dripping line, shapes and motions found in life all harmonizing on the canvas. Her recent paintings continue to distill the botanical image and explore the possibility of process. Anna Jaap is a resident of Nashville and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and has worked as a painter and printmaker since 1988. Her work is collected extensively throughout the United States and has been shown in New York, Atlanta, Memphis, Nashville, Chicago, and Washington D.C.. Clients include Paramount, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Primus, and The National Aquarium.

Heather Bellamy of Portland, ceramic figurative sculptures are inspired by flowers. Petals become hair, leaves and hands, while a serene woman's face creates a portraiture sculpture. Each piece portrays a sense of subdued surreal beauty. Bellamy paints exquisite details adding layers of depth and story to her sculptures. Heather Bellamy studied and was inspired by artist Margarita Leon. Heather lives with her husband and two young children in Portland, Oregon. She teaches art out of her new private teaching studio.
